Before 1988 there was no biological solution to control Codling Moth in apple orchards. It was only when Martin and Isabel Andermatt decided to found the Andermatt Biocontrol and develop Madex, that this key pest could be controlled with a biological plant protection product. Madex received the first worldwide registration of a granulovirus product in 1988 in Switzerland. Ever since, Andermatt has continued to develop products for sustainable food production.
